Lebenslauf

Professor Kurt J. Antreich received the Dipl.-Ing. degree from the Technical University of Munich in 1959 and the Dr.-Ing. degree from the Technical University of Karlsruhe, Germany, in 1966.

In 1959 he joined AEG-Telefunken, where he was involved in the development of electronic circuits and systems. In 1968 he became head of the department of advanced development in Backnang, Germany.

Since 1975 Dr. Antreich has been Professor and head of the Institute of Electronic Design Automation at the Munich University of Technology, Germany. His research interests are in computer-aided design tools for electronic circuits and systems, with particular emphasis on circuit optimization, layout synthesis, testing, and synthesis of digital systems.

Besides many national scientific commitments he has served as a member of the steering and program committees of various international conferences (e.g. IEEE ICCAD, IEEE ISCAS, EDAC, Euro-DAC) and as a member of the editorial boards of several international technical journals.

His research led to more than 300 publications and resulted in many significant applications in industry. He received numerous national honors and several important international scientific awards.

In 1994 he has been elected a Fellow of the IEEE for his contributions to CAD of electronic circuits and systems.

In 1999 he received the Golden Jubilee Medal of the IEEE Circuits and Systems Society for "Exceptional Contributions toward advancing Circuits and Systems Society goals during its 50 years of existence."

He retired in 2003. In the same year he recieved the European Design and Automation Association (EDAA) Lifetime Achievement Award for his excellent work in electronic design automation.

As Professor Emeritus in the Department of Electrical, Electronic, and Computer Engineering, Dr. Antreich remains active in research topics of his expertise and consults on various projects. Since 2006 he has been mentoring the most outstanding students within the scholarship program of his University.
